Find the right size.
Pick the room, then pick the size. A rug should anchor the furniture, not float in the middle of the floor.
Living Room
Front legs of the sofa and chairs should sit on the rug, and it should reach past the sides of the sofa by a few inches. Leave 12 to 18 inches of bare floor between the rug and the walls.

Front legs of the sofa on the rug, chairs just off it. Fits a living room around 9x11 and leaves a clean band of floor around the edges.

Tape it out
Mark the rug's outline on the floor with painter's tape and live with it for a day. Bigger almost always looks better than you expect.

Follow the furniture, not the walls
Size the rug to the seating group or the bed, then check there is 12 to 18 inches of floor left around it. A rug that runs to the walls reads like carpet.

When in doubt, go up a size
A rug that is too small floats. If you are between two sizes, take the larger one. Every Bloom rug is a single piece with the non-slip backing built in, so a bigger rug is not a bigger job.
